Copying an Organization

You might want to copy an organization in order to create a new organization using the same data. If you want to create a new organization but only want to copy the organization setup, see Copying an Organization Setup.

When you copy an organization in its entirety, the system creates an exact copy of the original organization, including its assets. The System Numbers remain intact.

Before you begin the steps outlined below, you must close any currently open organization.

Note: When no companies or organizations are open, the menus and windows display the word Company, rather than the word Organization.

To copy an organization

1. Select File/Organization Utilities/Copy Company from the menu bar. The system displays the Copy Company window.
2. Complete the Copy Company window, then click the Copy button to copy the organization. If you're copying the organization into the same database, or into a database containing an organization with the same name, the system displays the Rename Company window.
3. Enter a name for the new organization. If you want to overwrite an organization with the same name in the selected database, click the Overwrite button; otherwise, click the Rename button. The Overwrite button is not available if you are copying the organization into the same database. The system begins the copy process, then returns to the Copy Company window. Click Close to close the Copy Company window.
