Acquisition Value Field

Use this book information field in Asset Detail to enter the acquired dollar value of the asset, up to eight digits to the left of the decimal point. You can use a negative number when you have a credit or rebate on an asset that reduces its value below zero. To enter a negative number, use the minus sign on the keyboard. The program displays -$200 using parentheses; that is, ($200).

Note: The system uses the acquisition value to determine the asset's depreciable basis. The formula for determining the depreciable basis depends on the depreciation method.
