Assigning User Privileges

Important! For SFA Cloud customers, only the Application Authentication Security Mode is supported. Although the Windows Authentication option may still appear in the interface, it is not functional within the SFA Cloud environment.

Once you've created security profiles in the system, you must assign your users a system profile and a company profile. After you assign users a profile, they only have access to the functions you specified in their profile.

If you're assigning user privileges for the first time, you must first create a user list.

The system uses the names in the user list as the user's login IDs. Create names on the user list as you would any other login

  1. Select File/Password Security/Assign User Privileges/Assign System Privileges from the menu bar. The system displays the Assign System Privileges window.
  2. Select the New User button. The system displays the Add New User window.
  3. Type a new user login name in the User Name field, then select OK. If you are using Windows Authentication security mode, enter the Domain name.

Note: Enter the computer name in the Domain field if you are running a standalone computer or you are in a Windows for Workgroups environment.

Caution! Do not enter "Supervisor" as a user name. The word "Supervisor" is reserved for use by the application.

The system returns to the Assign System Privileges window and adds the new user name to the User List. By default, the system initially creates case-sensitive user passwords that are the same as the user login.

  1. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for additional names.
  2. Select OK to exit the Assign System Privileges window, or complete the rest of the window to assign profiles to your users (see below).

  2. Complete the Assign System Privileges window, then select OK.
  1. Select File/Password Security/Assign User Privileges/Assign Company Privileges from the menu bar. The system displays the Assign Company Privileges window.
  2. Complete the Assign Company Privileges window, then select OK.
  1. Select File/Password Security/Define Profiles from the menu bar.
  2. Select either Assign System Privileges window or Assign Company Privileges window. The system displays the appropriate window.
  3. Complete the window to view or make changes to the user profiles.
  4. Select OK to exit the window.
