Copying a Company Setup
How do I copy only the company setup information?
You can copy a company setup from an existing company and apply it to a new company or to another existing company.
To copy a company setup into a new company
- Select File/New Company from the menu bar. The Entity Type window appears.
- Select the type of company or organization you want to create. For more information, see What Entity Type Is Right for Me.
- Select the Continue button. The New Company window appears.
- Select the Copy Setup button. The Copy Setup window appears. In this window, select the company and the attributes of the company you want to copy.
- Complete the Copy Setup window, then select OK. The application returns to the New Company window.
- Complete the New Company window, then select OK. Although most data should be copied from the originating company into the New Company window, you must name the new company in this window. You should also enter any additional information not copied, or make changes to the company setup as needed.
Note: The new company is not created until you select OK in Step 6.
To copy a company setup into an existing
company

You cannot copy the Book Defaults,
- Open the existing company.
- Select File/Edit Company from the menu bar. The Edit Company window appears.
- Select the Copy Setup button. The Copy Setup window appears. In this window, select the company and the attributes of the company you want to copy.
- Complete the Copy Setup window, then select OK. The application returns to the Edit Company window.
- Complete any changes to the Edit Company window, then select OK. Although most data should be copied from the originating company, you should enter any additional information not copied.
- If the number of books matches between the source company and the destination company, then the Copy Setup will proceed.
- If the destination company has fewer books than the source company, the system will generate a warning message that the books in the destination company will be only be populated with book data from an equal number of books in the source company.
- If the destination company has more books than the source company, the system will generate a warning message that the number of books in the source company will only populate book data into an equal number of books in the destination company.
